Do you have the Confidence to do anything you ever wanted?

As Henry Ford said, "if you believe you can, or you believe you can't, you are probably correct".

Last night I went to watch the Strictly Live Show in Birmingham. I have never been before and didn't really know what to expect. It didn't disappoint. The judges were there (Craig, Shirley and Bruno) doing their thing and many of the celebs from this year and a few from 2020 were dancing some favourite dances.

From low self-worth to Standout moments of confidence.

The standout moment for me, and why I am writing about it today, was the visible increase in confidence of all the celebrity dancers. They had all started off unsure of themselves, not just in dancing but many of them in their personal lives too.

We could be forgiven for thinking they had it all, that's the view we have from the outside looking in. What do they have to worry about? But many of them clearly lacked self-confidence and self-worth.

Overcoming obstacles in life builds confidence.

And then there was Rose the standout moment I refer to above. As her face beamed on the screen (that also had a lady signing the whole way through - I bet that has never happened in the past), she said she now felt she could do anything she ever wanted.

For those who don't know, Rose Ayling-Ellis is deaf. She started dancing by counting, and in the tv shows you could often see her lips moving to count the beats. There was no counting last night, just amazing grace and movement of a young lady who has changed the lives of many in the deaf community by standing up and standing out.

They danced their show dance. At one point the music stops, but they keep dancing. This is Rose's world. One where there is no sound.

In an auditorium full of people, you could hear a pin drop.

I loved this dance on the T.V. but in real life, it was goosebump inducing.

I look at her and think, if she can do that, what can I do?

If she can do that, what can I do?

How can I change the world one step at a time?

For me it is through working with my clients. Watching them take those first steps, and sometimes giant leaps, into the knowledge that they can do anything they choose.

And it's about choice.

We can choose to be stuck or we can choose confidence

We can choose to stay stuck. Rose could have told herself that a deaf girl cannot dance on a prime-time TV show. If she had done that, there would have been no signing at the Strictly show for those deaf people who want to enjoy watching the glitz, the sparkle and the amazing movement of the people on stage.

Rose chose to take a risk; it has changed her world and the world.

What have you said no to because you held yourself back?

What have you dreamed about for years but decided you didn't have the time or the skills to implement the actions, so you didn't bother?

Questions that could change your thinking

What skills do I have already that could help me?

What additional skills do I need?

What would Rose (or someone else you find inspiring) do?

What happens if I never live the life I really want?

What has stopped me taking action so far?

Taking inspiration to become a more confident you

I work with people who have had change forced on them, whether it's through the end of a relationship, kids growing up, having to relocate or even parents and family members no longer being around.

I work with people who then make a choice to embrace the change and get support to thrive, not just survive.

If you feel you have been in survival mode for a long time and you are fed up,

Book a free introductory session and I can show you how I can help.

If you think Rose is as inspirational as I do (whether you watch Strictly or not), how can you take that energy and apply it to your own life?
